@Axcho - one thing you should take into account is that since MochiCoins is so seamlessly integrated into the Flash gaming experience, you'll get a much higher conversion rate. So, I'd guess it ends up being more profitable for the developer in the end compared to some home-cooked Paypal solution.

@Axcho: Oops, moved on too soon before I finished clarifying. The smaller transactions point is actually in reference to the impact of network effects from having lots of users in our system that have MochiCoins in their markets. If we can get gamers to purchase currency in our system, then it becomes a lot easier for them to make purchases across many games instead of convincing them to shell out $1 at a time. Sorry if that point wasn't clear!

@Axcho: Well, I think the point is that the platform has benefits in addition to managing small transaction sizes. We maintain a full team of staff and engineers to support the creation of this type of system, and it isn't cheap or particularly easy. In that sense, I don't consider it a fair comparison to pit us against PayPal, since they don't handle anything other than the pure transaction element. If that's all you care about as a developer then it's pretty easy to integrate PayPal for yourself.

@CICLA: Not sure what you're asking here about when it will be open for publishers? Many of the Coins enabled games are available for site owners to add to their site today. We're planning to announce the details of the publisher affiliate program very soon, still working out the kinks. As a developer, if you're interested in applying to join the program just visit: http://www.mochimedia.com/developers/coins_signup.html

Good stuff. The only thing I'd take issue with is the MochiCoins "solution" to the small transaction sizes.

"Small transaction sizes - Developers offering small transaction sizes often lose out after taking out transaction fees. For reference, see Dan Hoelck’s transactions experiment."

With PayPal, Dan Hoelck lost 24% of his revenue. With MochiCoins, he'd have lost 40% of his revenue. That's not an improvement.
