We’re officially rolling out the new and improved Mochi Publisher program today! Now, publishers can share in micro-transactions revenue generated by games that are using the Mochi Coins API. In the past, publishers have already been able to get a share of ad revenue. This enhances and adds to the existing program so that publishers can now receive a share of the revenue from micro-transactions as well as ads.
Mochi Publisher Program Updates
Mochi publishers can now earn 10% Coins affiliate revenue from new fundings that take place on their site. Publishers will also have the opportunity to earn additional 10% of all transactions taking place on their site in games in cases where the developer has opted-in to share micro-transactions revenue with publishers. We think this publisher revenue model makes sense to give affiliate credit to publishers for the quality of their users, and let developers voluntarily opt-in to share with publishers.
Benefits:
- Publishers are getting affiliate revenue for 10% of the gross funding transaction. This means that they receive payment without running the risk that users won’t spend their wallet on their site.
- Publishers have the opportunity to earn up to 20% of the total transaction if the consumer purchases funding on their site, and spends all of their coins in a game where the developer is sharing micro-transactions revenue.
- The cost of the affiliate revenue program is a marketing service provided by Mochi Media at no cost to developers. Developers are also able to contribute to the success of MochiCoins and gain greater distribution for their game by voluntarily opting in to share 10% of the transaction with publisher partners.
For example, if a user comes to a publisher’s site to play SAS: Zombie Assault 2 and buys $10 of coins, the publisher will receive $1 affiliate revenue regardless of whether or not they spend all $10 of coins on your site. Then if the developer opts-in to share their Coins revenue and the user spends only half of their wallet ($5) on games across their site, the publisher will receive an additional $0.50 of revenue.
Publishers – Getting Started
Okay, so are you ready to get started? Log in to your publisher dashboard. There is now a new section in the publisher dashboard called Coins Enabled Games to get started with premium games. Premium games will also be marked to indicate whether or not a developer has opted-in to share micro-transactions revenue with the publisher. There are two ways for you to receive credit for games on site. The first method is to claim the revenue share simply by hosting the Coins enabled game on a domain that you’ve claimed. If you’re already claiming ad revenue today then you’re all set.
The second method allows publishers to claim affiliate revenue from embedding a game hosted somewhere else. Here’s what the embed code would look like, replacing PUBLISHER_ID with your own publisher ID:
In a situation where there are two registered publishers, Publisher A and Publisher B, and publisher A embeds from Publisher B’s domain, Publisher B who has claimed the domain will receive the affiliate revenue and Publisher A will not. If you choose to embed from games.mochiads.com with your publisher ID, you will receive affiliate and coins revshare income but not ads.
Developers – Coins Revshare Opt-In
By opting-in to share micro-transactions revenue with publishers, you’re able to provide additional incentive for publishers to promote your games to their users. In sharing revenue, publishers will receive 10% of the transaction amount from your part of the developer share. This is purely voluntary and does not affect the affiliate revenue program. To opt-in, select your game which is using Mochi Coins from the developer dashboard. From game overview, select the “Coins” tab and then the “Settings”. One of the store settings for the game is “Coins Revshare Opt-In”. Select Yes to opt-in.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who pays for the affiliate revenue?
Mochi Media bears the cost of the affiliate program, and this is one of the marketing benefits that comes from using Mochi Coins in our system!
How do I identify a game that has opted-in to sharing micro-transactions revenue?
Games using the Coins API will be indicated in the publisher game feed by a coins graphic on the thumbnail. Text underneath the thumbnail will indicate if the developer has opted in to share transaction revenue with the publisher. You will also see “Coins Enabled” and “Coins Revenue Enabled” as fields now on the game description page. For publishers that are using the game feeds to get their games, there are now two new fields: “coins_enabled” indicates that it is a game using Mochi Coins and “coins_revshare_enabled” indicates whether or not the developer has opted in to share micro-transactions revenue.
Can publishers receive affiliate revenue from users that are already registered?
If a user has already registered in the past but never funded their account with PayPal or credit card, publishers will be eligible to receive their affiliate revenue from the program. If the user has already funded their wallet in the past and is doing a subsequent transactions, publishers are not eligible. However, they are always eligible for receiving micro-transactions revenue share from opted-in games.
Does the affiliate revenue cover all funding types?
No, publishers only receive their affiliate revenue from credit card or PayPal payment transactions. However, they are always eligible for receiving micro-transactions revenue share from opted-in games. In the case where a user has already funded their account with incentivized offers, and then funds with PayPal/credit card for the first time, publishers are eligible for the affiliate revenue. Update (8/24): Clarification: In the future as we roll out additional payment methods, those should also be part of the publisher program.

Great! Can’t wait to get this started!
can i see how much i earn with the micro transactions on my site? like in the dashboard it has the As impressions but what about the mochi coins? we already have games with mochi coins on the site…
@CICLA
You can find that information by going to the publishers tab, then clicking on reports. It has two new columns ‘Coins Revshare’ and ‘Coins Affiliate’.
You can also then go to Top Games to see it broken down by game. However, it only shows the top 50 performing games, so it is a bit limited from that perspective.
thanks, yeah i can see it.
How do publishers know how many people clicked on buy coins and how many bought or abandoned it?
Nice to see more of the money going to developers, the majority of us could definitely use it.
Can developers choose which portals to share revenue with? It would be nice if we can offer rev-share along with game features to individual portals as part of a site license deal.
can i see how much i earn
@alhoubmontada: You can see how much you have earned through this program by clicking on the “Reports” tab of the publisher dashboard.
