Happy Monday everyone! A few quick updates for you guys on the game profile and ad sales front. Read on below!
Update Your Game’s Primary Category!
We’ve made an updates to the developer game profile page to better categorize your games. Games now have one primary category, replacing the multiple category system in place before. If your game falls into multiple categories, never fear — there are still secondary categories for you to check off. Your game will continue to show up in the publisher feeds under both primary and secondary categories.
We have transitioned existing games using some simple rules to set primary categories, but please check your game to make sure that it’s in the right category. Update your game category by logging into your developer dashboard and selecting your game. Once you’re on the game overview page, select the “Edit” button to the right of the game title on that page. This edit button will take you to the Game Profile settings, where you’ll see the new Primary Category setting toward the bottom.

Update your games by September 30th! After that point, the primary categories will be locked for edits unless you contact support. Of course, you’ll still be able to choose primary category for any new games that you add into the system.
Expanded Ad Sales Partnerships in Germany, Austria and Switzerland
We’ve extended our advertising partnership with Video Initiatives (aka eType video) to deliver online video advertisements to Germany, Austria and Switzerland! The expanded partnership builds on our existing relationship with Video Initiatives in the United Kingdom and means that we will have more feet on the ground for ad sales in these countries to sell ads in your games!

Interesting. Would love to know more of the “why” behind now having a primary category (but even more so the why behind _locking_ the primary category).
Kaolin, the change for primary categories is basically to help us manage ad inventory more effectively across the Mochi network. You can always request to have the primary category changed after this period of time passes by sending us an email.
Hopefully this will translate in better performance overall.
THANK GOD! This is really annoying since when I catogorize games from mochi ALL of them seem to go into the action category, because shooting games fall under action, and driving games, and platformers… Hopefully developers can catagorize thier games a bit better with this new system.
