From my experience, the hardest part about building a game is coming up with good gameplay mechanics. Fortunately for us Sean Howard has been so kind as to share his quest to document 300 different gameplay mechanics. Not only is he writing about each gameplay mechanic, but he’s also illustrated them for clarity. In Sean’s own words about his efforts.
“Simply put, a challenge to myself. Every day for three hundred days, I will post a gameplay mechanic that has (hopefully) never been seen in a commercial video game. Three hundred mechanics. No more. No less.”
I hope this helps some of you looking for a new game to build to come up with something fun and clever. Three Hundred Mechanics

Oh, thanks for that find!
Very nice. Always on the lookout for interesting game ideas, and those could provide some inspiration.
It’d be nice if there was some way to comment on these game mechanics, since out of his first 60, I count four I can’t attribute to prior games. I think this guy would be doing valuable work if he had a better familiarity with game history.
Well…1 out of 15 aint bad.
I really wish I could contact/comment, because they are bretty great ideas and I’m pretty damn interested.
These people seem to have had previous experience with that guy…
