Winner’s Circle
This week’s Flash Game Friday winner is Truck Loader by flazm. The goal of the game is to load your truck whilst overcoming obstacles and challenges.
Truck Loader has a lot of great qualities, from good graphics to simple player education. My favorite quality, though, is the physics. Flazm did a great job in making the physics of this game really cool.
The magnetic arm of your truck loader combined with maneuvering the vehicle and throwing boxes around is just a great combination and makes the game a lot of fun. Get to know flazm in the quick interview below, and be sure to play Truck Loader. Congratulations flazm!
Q: Tell me about yourself- how big (or small) is your team? Where are you based?
We are a small Indie game development company comprised of four people. We are located in Magnitogorsk, Russia.
Q: How long have you been making games? What did you do before?
We’ve been engaged in game development for more than 5 years now. In the latest couple of years game development has become our primary activity. We come from an IT background, and used to focus on Internet solutions and projects in the past.
Q: What types of games do you like to create the most? What types of games do you like to play the most?
Most of all we love to design physical puzzles, but we also like to experiment with other genres, which aren’t as popular. Our first game was a railway tycoon-type game called “Railway Valley”. We have a couple of games under development which are difficult to append to one specific genre.
Q: Are there any game developers that you admire or consider “rock stars”?
The Indie Flash game development community in Russia is expanding rapidly thanks to the active interaction between its members. I’d say our “rock stars” are Johnny-K, Ant-Karlov (“Mining Truck”, “Mashroomer”), Smrdis (“Gibbits” series), and several others. Berzerk Studios creations and Nitrome are among our favourites outside Russia.
Q: What is it about making a new game that you enjoy most?
We love to the making of the game itself – the process of nurturing ideas from early-stage prototypes to final releases. The feeling of unlimited supremacy over world that is created with a pen on a sheet of paper is simply fantastic.
Q: Do you have any hot projects you’re working on right now
Yes, we have several projects under development right now. By the end of this year we’re planning to release another 2-3 games, so stay tuned.
