Winner’s Circle
This week’s Flash Game Friday winner is Tiny Dream by Kendja!
You are dropped into this strange world. You have to talk to the local inhabitants, who obviously don’t look like you, in order to figure out what you need to do.
As you explore this world, you encounter areas with strange gravitational pulls. In this collecting game, you need to figure out what you need to find and who you need to get it to.
Tiny Dream is a really creative game made during a Ludum Dare competition (which makes it extra cool). The game mechanics, physics, and polish all make Tiny Dream a worthy Flash Game Friday winner…congratulations Kendja!
Get To Know Kendja
Tell me about yourself- how many people are on your team? Where are you based?
Hey there! My name Maxim. Normally it’s just me, but from time to time I have collaborated with other people. I was born in a small northern town called Nadym, but I live currently in Tyumen, Russia.
How long have you been making games?
I started making games in 2010.
I noticed that “Tiny Dream” was a Ludum Dare contest entry- what was your inspiration for the game?
In general, everything, including the style and genre, I’ve invented on the fly. But, on the other side, my main inspiration came from the game called “Knytt” by Nifflas.
Did you encounter any major challenges or hurdles during development?
Yeah, making a game in a 48-hour time frame (Ludum Dare 23 rules), but it’s been fun.
What types of games do you like to create the most? What types of games do you like to play the most?
I mostly create strategy & simulation games. The games I enjoy playing the most are strategies, different multiplayer coop-games, RPG, & adventures.
How long is your game creation cycle?
Generally, about a few months.
Are there any game developers that you admire or consider “rock stars”?
Introversion Software, Wolfire, 2D Boy, and many others.
What is it about making a new game that you enjoy most?
I enjoy the game creation process itself, but most of most of all I like making the prototype of the game.
Do you have any hot projects you’re working on right now?
Yes, it’s a tower defense game called Crystal Lands, for which I’m currently looking for a sponsor. :) Video
Congratulations Kendja, and good luck with Crystal Lands
