Winner’s Circle
This week’s Flash Game Friday winner is Impale by mibix!
What’s this? Another ragdoll game? Another zombie game? Well yes…and no. More accurately, this game has zombie ragdolls. The object is launch them in the air onto lethal hooks, saws, spikes, and exploding devices. So this is really a physics puzzle game that is using zombie ragdolls, spooky backgrounds, and a little bit of gore.
Okay so I mentioned launching zombie ragdolls. You launch them off of a spinning wheel, and have to make them land in just the right spots. You can’t advance to the next level until you have hit all of your spots.
The really cool thing about the game is it’s length. There are 50 levels, plus another 20 bonus levels! mibix also included 12 different achievements, including one that is earned simply by visiting the sponsor’s site (pretty inventive, seems like a good idea for both the developer and sponsor).
Impale is this week’s Flash Game Friday winner not only because it has zombies that you can slice and dice, but also because it has good game mechanics, nice polish, and the physics are well done. Congratulations mibix!

Tell me about yourself- how many people are on your team? Where are you based?
There are two of us on the team. I do the coding and art, and my friend creates the music, sounds and levels. We are based in Russia.
How long have you been making games? What did you do before?
I started making games 4 years ago. Last year I began making games full time. Prior to that I worked at textile factory and made games in
free time.
What was your inspiration for “Impale”?
My inspiration for “Impale” was the popular game “Ragdoll Canon” by Johnny-K.
What types of games do you like to create the most? What types of games do you like to play the most?
I like to create physics games with mouse control. Such games are very interesting and available to a wider audience. I also like to play
physics games too.
Are there any game developers that you admire or consider “rock stars”?
I respect all developers who are making great and interesting games, but here are two particular people I admire: Vadim Starygin (Badim) and Johnny-K. Their blogs about flash games developing were a huge help for me..
Do you have any hot projects you’re working on right now?
Right now I’m working on my new game. It is a classic platformer about a funny robot. It’s new genre for me, but I think the game will turn out nicely. :)
Thanks mibix, and good luck with your platformer project!
