I agree on player feedback. Often you have to wade through a lot to pick out a few gems.

I thought this was a great interview with some good questions. As a huge [flash] gamer and a developer myself starting out my own company, I'm a huge fan of Nitrome and am always trying to take notes. I think they are definitely at the forefront of this emerging and potentially massive industry.

Mat's dead on with his tip on taking player comments with a grain of salt. Young players in particular love to think up inventive ways to tear down what most people would consider pretty amazing games. You also find many many suggestions for features that you know in your gut would be really bad. You know what works, and I guarantee you've thought about it much more than the players.

On the other hand, as long as you take it with a grain of salt, sometimes users have great feedback or you'll find the same types of (hopefully constructive) comments being left over and over again- these can be key indicators of things that can be changed to make the game truly awesome.

As before, great interview!
