If you’ve ever wanted to create an arcade without building a platform from scratch, you might want to consider creating one using Wordpress. MochiAds community member and helpful serial tutorial-ist Emanuele Feronato created one using a feed of MochiAds games. He walks through the process in detail here. He credits Fingermonkey’s experience in building one as his source of inspiration.
Several other MochiAds community members have also shared their experiences of creating Wordpress arcades — like Warhorse Games, who created his site Game Tokenz. Check out the related forum thread here.
Have you created a Wordpress arcade? How is it working out for you, and what could make it better? Feel free to showcase your templates and share your tips in this forum thread.

GoPlaySushi.com has for quite a long time now been word press based using several different templates and custom designs. I’d definetly say it has it’s positive sides - but also negative. My next project will be learning to code PHP so that I’ll get a more wide understanding of how I can manipulate the WP code. Christopher of GOPLAYSUSHI.COM
Maya, as head of developer releations at Mochi Media I assume you have expert knowledge in web development and in particular flash arcades.
Given your unique capacity and authoratative standing in the industry, I’d be very interested to hear your own opinion on the matter of WordPress arcade development. What do you think about it?
What sort of conclusions were you able to draw from your research into this topic? Is it a good thing, a bad thing? What are the contentions? What are the pitfalls and caveats? And what lies behind your motivation in wanting to initiate this discussion?
Thanks.
Hi Fingermonkey,
First off, great series of articles on the topic! Thanks for chronicling your own experience.
The purpose of opening it up for discussion on this blog (and our community forums) is to highlight this as something we’ve noticed as potentially useful, and see what the community’s experience has been with it, what are the highlights/pitfalls, etc.
There’s been a little discussion going already on the forums, if you’d like to take a look: http://www.mochiads.com/community/forum/topic/create-a-wordpress-arcade.
Thank you
Games Freez is also powered by WordPress, inspired by Emanuele Feronato and FingerMonkey
Worth to give a try…
Thank you for article.
I have used the Kimili Flash Plugin to Embed the Free Rider 2 Flash game on iwebie and it works great for me..
Check out the Example

I have read through his tutorial several times.
The script is an all or nothing script, It either works on your webhosting, or if it doesn’t you are in serious trouble. One problem with his tutorial is he doesn’t tell you where the most important part of the script should go (http://www.emanueleferonato.com/2008/08/24/creation-of-a-flash-arcade-site-using-wordpress-step-5/). He presents it as a standalone .php script but hints it should be integrated with his other php scripts. He doesn’t tell you how to do this. I have experience with php and have built this along side his tutorial (guessing how the steps should fit together) and get error messages, do to the script not completing within the alotted time in the php.ini file. To solve this I would try another host, if in fact someone could refer an affordable host who is capable of hosting that script/plugin.
Also, he says he’s releasing the beta version some time ago last month but never did.
